After years apart, Kido and Kijima reconnect at the funeral of a professor from college. When Kido learns of Kijima's financial troubles, he offers a way to earn some money through writing a different novel style.
Kido's job is to get the last book of their top writer, Mr. Gamouda, before he dies. After accomplishing such a feat, he can get transferred to a better job. When under pressure, Kido convinces Mr. Gamouda to stay by offering Kijima as an apprentice. However, in order for Gamouda to take Kijima as an apprentice, he must pass a test.
After an intimate test, Kido wants more. Meanwhile, Kijima seems uncertain of how the two will continue after this night. Prolonging this change, Kijima finally begins his apprenticeship with Mr. Gamoda.
Kijima takes care of Kamoda as his health rapidly fails. Kido is experiencing mounting pressure from his wife and his personal goals regarding his current job.
